During the normal camp day, there are 2-4 traveling unit activities scheduled. After the first few days of the session (which is pre-scheduled by staff) the bunks will meet to vote on their preferred activities each week. The traveling unit consists of 1-3 bunks (approximately 10-18 campers) that are in roughly the same age group. During their voting (“planning”) period, the counselors and campers discuss which activities they would like for the upcoming week. The schedule is then created by our programming staff, and will be geared towards their preferences, but still balanced with other activities. When the schedule comes out for the upcoming week, campers will have it posted for them so they know what’s coming. When traveling units go to these activities with their counselors, they enjoy the instruction and leadership of at least one specialty counselor assigned to the activity.
