July 22, 2012

Time is sacred for Jews, and we sanctify time when we celebrate Shabbat and the holidays.  As we prepare for this Shabbat, our fourth Shabbat here at camp and the final one here this year for our first session campers, I’m acutely aware of how truly special this past month has been – how it has been a time of growth, friendship and fun for all of our campers.

During staff training, before all of the campers arrived at camp, I had the chance to sit with counselors and ask them to share with me their favorite memories from their time as campers at Pinemere. They spoke of cookouts, turkey roasts, hanging out on the Green, leading parts at outdoor services at the Chapel, Sing, and so much more. Over the past month, I’ve gotten to watch this summer’s campers having a blast, making the most of their time here, and creating their own memories.

To all those campers who are going home on Sunday, I wish you a wonderful rest of the summer and hope that your memories of camp will bring you smiles throughout the year!

Shabbat Shalom!
